In coming into this world, you don't know immediately who you'll be. From the start, you are subject to the fundamental of diversity. You become someone yourself and because of that, you are special. Your sexual orientation, your age, your gender, ethnicity, race, culture, religion...they are all a part of who you are as an individual. Its something you should always keep in mind throughout your life. Ponder your qualities, and come to understand them.
Many hardships await you during your lifetime. They will challenge your beliefs, your qualities...they will challenge you as an individual. They'll batter your strengths and prey on your weaknesses. They'll bring you sorrow and grief. You can't hope to live your life without some hardship. It will come in many forms: you may be bullied for your sexual orientation, race, or ethnicity. You may be subject to various stereotypes, such as the "emo" or "Aspie" stereotypes. You may be harassed for being a man or a woman. It may harm or even take the life of someone close to you. Always be prepared for hardship, but never dwell on it.
Despite life's hardships, darkness cannot exist without light, and so, there is always hope. It may be dim or seem non-existent...but it's there. So long as you live, that hope exists for you. Indeed, it's hard sometimes to believe in that hope. Perhaps it's been smothered by harsh, undesirable experiences. Perhaps it's been almost non-existent for the duration of your lifetime. But something keeps you alive: hope. Never lose it, no matter how dire your circumstances.
There may be times when you wish to leave this world prematurely. Many people have done so. But in so doing, they have thrown away everything their families, friends, hopes, dreams, opportunities...everything. The choice of suicide is yours alone to make, but keep in mind that once you go, you don't come back.
But fear not you are not alone. You will establish bonds with others. You will find someone on whom you can count. You will find someone whom you can love. The path you choose in life is yours alone, but there will be those whose paths intersect with yours. Some will walk side-by-side with you for a time. Some will remain with you for life. You will meet friends and foes alike. Take into account your experiences with those people it will allow you to understand yourself and others on a greater level, and also to establish yet more bonds.
You are special, your life is meaningful, and you are not a failure. Consider both your strengths and your weaknesses. Work on what you feel needs to be amended, but take care to not make a wrong amendment. Establish bonds with others. Pool your strengths with them, and allow them to share theirs with you. Compensate for their weaknesses, and let them do the same for you. Always remember that there's hope for you, a living being. Never give it up. Walk your path, and share it with others, at times. And finally...you are unique. You are you.
That is your truth. Embrace it.
